On September 17, 2012 Mitch and I were hoping to spend the day doing something fun for our 2 year anniversary. I had a doctors appointment that afternoon after Mitch got out of school. My blood pressure was elevated and I hadn't felt the baby move a whole lot. I tried eating something little before the appointment but still not much activity. After discussing this with our doctor, he told us that I was at a 2, he wanted us to go get a non stress test just to make sure the baby was doing ok he was a little worried about my blood pressure. He told me I would most likely not be making it to my due date that he would see me next week and we would discuss it further. He told us to go across the street to the hospital and they would get me right in for the non stress test. Mitch and I had made plans to go to PF Changs for our anniversary dinner, We were both getting hungry but decided we better go get the test done first then off to dinner. Well what we were told would only be a twenty min wait ended up being almost a three to four hour wait. By the time we got in to do the test I could feel the baby moving like crazy. I almost said forget the test he's fine lets just go eat! But we stayed and did the test. It only took twenty min once we were in the room to know everything was fine. Off we were to have our anniversary dinner!
On September 24th we meet with the doctor for a check up and he said I was still at a 2 but with my blood pressure being elevated he didn't want to take any chances and that I needed to decide if Tuesday or Wednesday evening worked better for us. Remind you this is Monday the 24th! Luckily I had everything ready to go for the baby so Mitch and I discussed it and decided Wed evening would work best with is school.
We were scheduled to be at the hospital at 11pm September 26th. We got a phone call from the hospital around 8 saying that they didn't have room for me, that I would have to wait until morning, just to get a good nights rest and they would call when it was time to come in. GOOD NIGHTS REST!!! not going to happen, I was to nervous and excited to meet my new baby boy! I tried to sleep the best I could. We got a call at 5am on Thursday the 27th and off we went to the hospital.
We arrived at the hospital around 5:30 am. The nurses got me all situated, hooked up to all the machines, and got the IV put in. after starting me on the pit I wasn't progressing very fast. Around 8am they broke my water. Shortly after that I started having back contractions and I thought things were progressing quickly, my contractions where getting closer together and stronger but I still was only at a 3. They gave me some Tylenol and told me to wait a little bit longer for the epidural. I waited as long as I could the back contractions were just to much. The whole time he was prepping me for the epidural I was nervous, I was having strong contractions throughout the whole time. After receiving the epidural I felt much better! :) Just ask Mitch I am sure I was a much happier person as well. ha ha
Things were still progressing slowly. I had text my mom around 3:30 and I had finally made it to a 5. I put my phone down and the nurse came in and said lets put you on the peanut ball and see if that helps. Mitch decided he better take bathroom break while the nurses were doing that. He was gone maybe 2 min and when he walked out it was time to push, he got the nurse and the peanut ball had worked! I was at a 10 and ready to push! My doctor walked in just in time to deliver the baby.
At 4:20pm little Ruger Shane Heiner came into our lives. He cried right off the bat, the doctor handed him to me and put him on my chest. He was the sweetest little thing I have ever seen! I feel in love in that instant. The first thing I noticed was his right hand looked a little different. I thought I was seeing things. The nurse took him to get him cleaned up and get his weight and length. The nurse yells out from the scale and says "He is 6 lbs 16 oz!" the room got really quiet and I asked, " Isn't that 7 lbs?" Everyone just laughed, in the back ground we hear, "Yes it is! ha ha he is 19 inches long!" As the nurses continue to check him the nurse says, "Lets count his toes, There are ten little toes, now his fingers..." She got quiet then said, "Um doctor there are only nine fingers..." again the room got quiet. I knew I had only seen nine fingers! Mitch didn't notice til the nurse said something. The doctor looks and me with a grin on his face and says, "I am sorry I don't think I did anything to cause that." I just smiled and said, "Unique little boy, that's all."
After we got situated we went to call our families and tell them the news, we noticed we had a lot of missed calls and texts. Our families were so excited to hear he made it here safe. Some thought we were playing jokes by saying he only had 9 fingers. And trust me, that is a joke I would probably try to pull with my family. Especially since we were in AZ and they were all in ID. But I didn't have to, it was true. I had family members say they were sorry for that and worried that later he would be made fun of for it. Kids are cruel and I am sure there will be that one kid that just can't handle someone being different. But no need to be sorry, its a fact of life, he will never know the difference. He will be able to throw a mean curve ball! Who knows maybe he'll be able to play the piano better than everyone else. We will raise our kids to know how special they are and that no one can hurt them unless they let it.
We have one unique little boy! I wouldn't trade him for the world! That night I told Mitch he could go home he had a long day and still needed to go to school in the morning. He told me he would just sleep there and go to school for an hour or so and be back. I don't think he even heard Ruger and I get up for feedings or anything. I was still in awe over this sweet little spirit that had come into our life. I just watched him sleep for a little while, I would touch him every now and then to make sure he was still breathing! I just couldn't believe that he was here!
We were able to go home on Sat the 29th. When we got home I wasn't sure how Mazie was going to react to the new baby. Mitch had been taking blankets and stuff home with him so she would get use to his scent. She was so excited when we got home! She loves her new baby! Mitch on the other hand was so tired it didn't take him long to zonk out on the couch. Precious moments that's for sure!
Ok I know I am terrible at this. You would think I would have more time to put things on here since I am now a stay at home mom. To be completely honest I don't know where my time goes! Ha Ha I have so much fun with Ruger I loose track of time. I decided I better try to get everyone up to date on what we are up to and how things are going. I will try to get pictures up from the last 4 months but I have yet to figure out how to do that! :) Well where do I start...
Ruger Shane Heiner was born 9/27/12 @ 4:20 pm. He was 7 lbs and 19in long. He is the new love of our life. We can't get enough of him. The Monday after Ruger was born my mom and sister came to visit. Ruger had his first Dr. appointment that day we found out later that evening that Ruger had jaundice pretty bad and we ended up being admitted to Phoenix Children's Hospital over night. When we finally got to go home it was such a relief, my mom was such a big help. When I had questions she was right there ready to help. With Mitch still in school it was really nice having the girls there to help me! :) October 19th we moved back to ID but before we left AZ, Ruger was all checked out and said he would be good til his 2 month appointment where he would need his shots. He was growing good and everything looked awesome!
November 2, 2012 we moved to Rock Springs WY, where Mitch took a job as a Power Generator Technician with Rocky Mountain Cummins. He really likes his job and works with some great people. We really like it here in Rock Springs, the only down side is not seeing friends and family as much as we would like, but we make do. We still go home often and see everyone. In fact we went home for Thanksgiving and then every weekend after that til Christmas we were driving to ID. Its been nice to be back in WY and get back into the routine of things.
For Christmas Ruger got spoiled! I will post some pictures of him and most everything he got. He loves the Jumper that Santa brought him. He also really likes the stuffed puppy that his aunt Mykala got him. :) His Uncle Hadley and Aunt Madison got him some cute clothes that he loves. I dressed him in the bright green outfit that Hadley gave him and he just sat in front of the mirror jabbering away. Talking to himself and smiling, he thought he was pretty hot stuff. Everything he got for Christmas he just loves, he is looking at books more, and voicing his opinion about them. He is just growing way to fast.
January has been a fun month, watching him learn everyday is awesome. He has learned how to put the pacifier back in his mouth, well only when he doesn't really need it. He chews on anything you get close enough to his mouth. He rolled over for the first time a week ago but he hasn't done it since then. He would honestly rather sit up or stand to play, the whole laying down thing he isn't to hip about. He will lay on his belly and play for a little bit, but then he tries to roll over and he gets so close and then gets mad. He figured it out once he'll get it again. :) He started eating cereal at the end of Jan, and I am just such a proud mom, I am excited for him to be growing so well and getting strong but I don't know how I feel about how fast it is going by. Mitch keeps trying to tell me its ok you will have another one to do this with again in a few years. Which I know he is right but that one will grow up just as fast.
Super Bowl Sunday we dressed him in his 49ners outfit, his daddy was so proud. He looked so cute, ready to watch some football. After the game was over he was such a happy boy and wanted to play, I started to tickle him and sure enough I got him to laugh! It was the cutest thing ever. A couple nights before he was playing with Mazie, our dog, and was trying to laugh then, he would let out a little squeal here and there but nothing like Sunday night. He is such a good baby. I couldn't be happier.
I will go back and do a month to month with pictures, things he loves, how big he is and everything. I have just been slacking and I have now figured out how to make this thing work. :) So that will be coming soon and be up to date!
Mitch and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary yesterday!!! I can't believe how fast this year has gone. We were talking about what we were doing this time last year. We moved to Arizona on our 1st year anniversary. We spent the day shopping for furniture for our apartment and then went to dinner with my parents. We kept tradition by going to dinner at PF Chang's. Other than that we didn't do a whole lot. We went to Flagstaff on Labor day weekend and spent the day in the nice cool, fresh air. We kinda used that as our little getaway. Well not much else to tell, the Dr. said everything looks good and I go in again next Monday! My mom and sister will be here in 2 short weeks! We are so excited to see them.
Well I am new at
this whole blogging thing so you will have to be patient with me until I get
caught up on the last two years of our life. :) I will make random entries to
get caught up but I promise I will get there! They might be short and sweet and
some may be long it will all depend on how much time I have when I start them!

Mitch and I were
married on September 17th, 2010. It was such a fun time for both of us. We had
the people we love most around us. Couldn't have asked for anything better. We
lived in St. Anthony for a month or so and then moved to Idaho Falls so Mitch could
be closer to work. Mitch started working for Pepsi before we tied the knot but
had been driving from Ashton and St. Anthony. We decided it would be more
logical to move there. I then got a job in Rigby that I fell in love with and
things were going fantastic. After settling in to our new place we had the
company Christmas parties where we met a couple who would become our closest
friends, Mike and Brittney Kidman. We instantly hit it off and Brittney and I
became inseparable. We did everything together! We are like sisters that we
didn't know we had.
In January, 2011
I started not feeling well, I had been to the Dr. and had taken some tests and
by June 2011 we found out I had Crohn's Disease. I started treatment right away
and nothing seemed to work. I ended up in the hospital in Aug and then decided
we needed to get another opinion. Mitch had been poking at the idea to move to
Arizona to go to school at the Universal Technical Institute. We heard they had
the Mayo clinic in Phoenix and Scottsdale which is one of the best places for
crohns patients to be so we decided to make an appointment and come check them
out. After my first appointment we looked at places to live. We then made the
biggest change and moved to Arizona. We moved on our 1 yr anniversary! My
parents, Shane and Penny Wright drove down here with us to help us move. That
was such a big help we appreciate them very much. After being here for just a
short month I ended up having major surgery because of the Crohns. I couldn't
have asked for a better time because Mitch's parents, Paul & Lynda Heiner,
came to see us the week before my surgery was scheduled. I was able to have
Lynda here for a couple of days to help out with some things before returning
home. We had the chance to meet some family we didn't know we had here. Laralee
Trentman came to see me at the hospital and has been a great help to us. The
ward we are in has been amazing as well. Talk about jumping into the ward! I
guess that is one way to get to know everyone fast! ha ha. After surgery I was feeling 100%
better, I started looking for work and didn't have the best of luck. We were
able to go home for Christmas and spend some time with family and friends. They
made it very difficult to drive back to Arizona to finish school.
February 15, 2012 we found
out we were going to be having a baby! It was such a surprise to Mitch and I.
My parents had planned a trip to come see us on the 16th so trying to keep that
a secret was hard because I wanted to make sure it was true before getting everyone
excited. The day after they left I had a Dr appointment to confirm and I
couldn't wait to call them and announce the news! As the year progressed I did
happen to stumble on the best opportunity I could have. In May the manager of
the apartment complex that we live at was looking for a nanny! After being with
them for a short time we found out we were having a little BOY! We have chosen
the name RUGER SHANE! Heather, the mom of the two little boys I watch, has been
amazing to us! She has given us so much stuff for the baby. She has become a
great friend. That was the most rewarding job! I have just recently stopped
working, the family I have grown to love so much is moving to the east side of
the Valley. It kind of worked out perfectly because it has given me time to get
things ready for the baby. We will miss them greatly when we move back to Idaho
but we also know that I will be coming back to the Mayo Clinic for Dr.
appointments and such so we'll get to come see them. I have already been told I
can't come unless I bring the baby.:) Of course I wouldn't have it any other
way!
It’s now September and our 2
yr anniversary is next Monday! I can't believe how time has flown! We had our
35 week appointment yesterday and they told me that I am measuring at 37 weeks!
I am not complaining. All I want is for him to be healthy and wait until the
first week of October. My mom and my sister, Mykala, are flying in on the
first! I am so excited to see them. I know they are probably more excited to
meet Ruger than to come and see Mitch and I. Mazie, our puppy, will sure be
excited to see Mykala. I will post pictures of the ultrasounds and some of the
cute baby stuff we have received, as soon as I can figure out how to do that!
I will try to keep up on this
week by week now, especially since its getting close to delivery day and you
will all want to know when that happens I am sure so I will do my best. Love
